anyone out there have any tips on how to induce an OBE?
I've been reading all the books I can find it. Robert Monroe wrote on vibrations and a hissing sound …. I experience the whistle, but no vibrations, and I can not seem to leave the body. Maybe it just takes lots of practice …
"EFC" are really only dreams alive. There is no scientific evidence to all who support the idea that EFC are real. See link then for a good excerpt from the book, "Lives of the" Pyschics, about a famous magician who describes his own OBE. It is quite enlightening. You may need to scroll down a bit to get to the story, but everything is a good read.

The Other Side: Near Death Experiences to Hell and Back, Hosted by Dr. Will Miller 1 of 6
It is estimated that about 5% of Americans have had a near death experience, and research has shown the experience to occur in all countries and cultures, and that it is a universal reality.
Historical Perspective
Near Death Experiences (NDE) were brought to light in the 1970′s when Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, M.D. reported on anecdotal accounts of powerful visions her dying patients were having. In working with terminally-ill patients, she became interested in investigating the realities of death. Some of Dr. Ross’ patients died but came back to life, against all odds, and spoke of experiences they had on the other side.
Dr. Ross, along with Raymond A. Moody, Jr., M.D., helped to start the new field of research in near death phenomena. Moody’s seminal book, Life After Life: The Investigation of a Phenomenon–Survival of Bodily Death, told the stories of 150 people who had suffered clinical death and were revived. Dr. Moody introduced the term, Near Death Experience.
Toward the end of the last century, the NDE became a popular cultural construct. It was popularized in movies, such as All That Jazz (1979), Resurrection (1980), and Flatliners (1990).
Numerous books have been written about how NDEs changed people’s lives. For example, Betty Eadie’s book, Embraced by the Light, came out in 1993. It told of her fantastic encounter with Jesus, and how she attained new spiritual knowledge.
Since that time, there has been an explosion of interest in the NDE and related matters. Research continues on various aspects of the NDE, and continues to document the basic characteristics of all NDEs.
Not all NDEs are the same, although there are certain factors they have in common, such as being out of the body, feeling a remarkable sense of joy and meeting a being of light or a helpful radiant figure.
Drawing Inspiration From NDEs
The majority of NDE-experiencers have gone on to use the experience as a motivational tool to enhance and improve their lives. There is something about the experience that changes people, from the inside out.
Upon returning to their normal lives, people who have died and come back to life often become more sensitive to the needs and plight of others. They tend to develop increased intuitive powers and bring a new depth to their thinking.
Having faced death and lost their fear of it, they report a new sense of courage in facing the problems and opportunities of life. No longer afraid to live, they are less afraid of taking risks. They are more courageous and loving.
What can we gain from understanding NDEs and how they help people to live healthier, more positive lives?
Some see the NDE as an indication that there is life after life. At least, they feel it demonstrates how thought and action are possible in death, since the clinically dead person seems to have conscious awareness of his or her surroundings. Of course, it is impossible to know whether a near death event is like final death, or what differences there may be.
The NDE has much to teach all of us about how to live more fully and effectively, since NDE experiencers are changed in such constructive ways.
The Power Of Relationships
My near death experience, which occurred in 2003, left me with a firm belief that relationships are at least ten times more important than we may realize. My experience helped me to understand the power of relationships in our lives, along with a tremendous desire to improve all my relationships and to do right by everyone.
Before my NDE, I sometimes took a laize-faire approach to my relationships, even though I had been a professional therapist for many years. But after my experience, I saw relationships in a totally different light, realizing that without good, close relationships, our lives would be close to meaningless.
The average person who undergoes a NDE comes out of the experience feeling better and stronger, and goes on to live a much improved life. Many overcome stubborn fears and worries they have had for years.
Getting past fear allows us to accomplish greater things in our lives and conduct more honest and loving relationships. And what joy relationships can bring us when we are unafraid to embrace and love people in unconditional ways!

Have you ever woken up and felt paralyzed? Or woken up suddenly to loud noises, bangs, bells, voices? Or felt your body sizzling and fizzing with energy? If so, you were probably either just about to leave your body or you had just re-entered.
It can be frightening, if you don’t understand what is happening. The paralysis is due to the fact that, your mind is awake, but your body is still sound asleep. You have woken up inside your sleeping body. The noises, bells, bangs, etc, occur as your consciousness expands, your astral hearing is more acute and all sorts of sounds can seep in.
Noises and vibrations are also due to the process of leaving your body. The vibrations can feel like a high-speed train traveling through your body and is wonderfully exciting, or they can feel like a gentle fizz, or they may not even be present. The first time ‘out’ is unforgettable.
My first conscious out of body experience when sleeping (OBE) was very simple, but I’ll always remember it for the joy it gave me. I use the term ‘conscious’ as we all leave our bodies at night, though we are not always aware of it.
I had been studying my dreams for a while, I wanted to learn how to lucid dream at will and was practicing techniques to achieve my goal. My desire at this time was to expand my inner knowledge, to contact the part of me that is not physical, a higher source.
One night I woke up inside my sleeping body, I felt slight vibrations which I would describe as fizzy. It was a marvelous sensation. I could see a little light coming through the blinds.
As I focused on the window, I suddenly found myself floating near the ceiling. I had read about OBEs, so I was aware of what was happening to me and was not afraid. I felt wonderful, weightless and full of joy. I found movement difficult and soon found myself back in my fizzing body.
The vibrations were like thousands of electric shocks, though they were not painful. I managed to get out again and once more found myself floating near the ceiling. The same sensation of lightness and freedom filled me. I re-entered my body and woke up fully, both in mind and body.
I went back to sleep again, excited for what had happened and when I finally woke up the following morning the feeling remained with me. I wanted to tell everyone, though I didn’t, I wasn’t sure if people would take me seriously. I felt so good, as if I had opened up a path to that part of my Self that I had been missing, that I had longed for.
I’ve been “going out” on a regular basis ever since that first OBE. It was like riding a bike and I knew that I would never forget how to repeat the experience. I had found my inner button.
We can all have conscious OBEs and by doing so expand our consciousness. It is, of course, not the only way to grow spiritually, but it is a way that works for me. We are all individuals and have our own paths.
Since I began my inner journey synchronicities have increased, my ability to find lost objects and solve problems, meet the right people at the right time. Life becomes easier as being connected to an inner source, in-tuition, makes life flow more smoothly. That first time was the beginning of a wonderful adventure into Self.

Once you’re out of your body you won’t doubt it anymore. =) It’s really fantastic! To be at a place when your physical body is sleeping in the bed is kinda cool.
